Exciting progress is coming to Merrill Avenue! 🚧
The City of San Luis is proud to announce the start of Phase II of the Merrill Avenue Improvement Project, another major step toward safer streets, better accessibility, and improved infrastructure for our community. 👏
Beginning May 18, 2026, crews will begin upgrades along Merrill Avenue between County 22nd Street and Nancy Street, including:
✔️ New storm drains & manholes
✔️ Sanitary sewer manhole repairs
✔️ Full pavement replacement
✔️ New center turn lane & travel lanes
✔️ Dedicated bike lanes 🚴
✔️ Improved sidewalks, curbs, gutters & drainage
✔️ ADA-compliant accessibility improvements ♿
Construction is expected to continue through September 2026 and will be completed by Gutierrez Canales Engineering, PC.
This important project is funded in part through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and reflects the City’s continued commitment to improving the quality of life for residents and visitors alike.
