Mission
The mission of the San Luis Economic Development Commission is to promote sustainable economic growth through targeted economic development programs, collaborations, and innovative opportunities. Our goal is to create quality jobs and expand the commercial and industrial tax base.
To support this mission, the Economic Development Commission will:
- Collaborate closely with the Economic Development Department in devising an economic development strategic plan, and advocate for its adoption by the San Luis City Council.
- Act as an advisory board to the San Luis Business Incubator, identifying and recommending suitable tenants.
- Assess significant projects, as identified by the Economic Development Department, for recommendation to the San Luis City Council.
- Facilitate a platform where business, government, and educational leaders can discuss, debate, and exchange ideas.
- Annually review and suggest updates to the economic development strategic plan.
- Offer ongoing support and advice to the Economic Development Department.
- Monitor and evaluate year-on-year changes in employment, as well as the commercial and industrial tax base.
Membership and Application Process

- Vacancies are announced in line with the San Luis City Council's established standards and processes.
- Interested parties should submit letters of interest, applications, and/or resumes to the Economic Development Department, where they will be recorded and tracked.
- Members of the Economic Development Commission are instrumental in encouraging community involvement in applying for open positions.
- The Economic Development Director will screen applications to ensure they meet the required qualifications.
- Submissions will be reviewed by the Economic Development Commission's advisory board, which will then make recommendations to the San Luis City Council.
- The San Luis City Council nominates candidates for the Economic Development Commission.
- Appointments are typically confirmed at the subsequent San Luis City Council meeting.
- Newly appointed members will receive an official letter of appointment from the Economic Development Department.
- Members serve at the discretion of the council and may be removed by the city council.
