1. Who needs a Dog License?

Any person owning or housing a dog in the City of San Luis must obtain a dog license, which must be renewed annually.

2. My dog is deceased. How do I report it?

If your pet is deceased and was licensed with the City of San Luis, please let us know by updating your form at City Hall.

3. Can I bring my pet into City Hall and have the staff check to verify that it has been altered?

No, written documentation from a licensed veterinarian stating that the alteration has occurred is required to certify that your pet has been spayed or neutered.

4. My dog is a service animal. Do I need a license?

Yes, if your dog meets the guidelines of the American Disabilities Act (ADA) as a service animal, you may receive a waiver of the fee.

5. If my dog is picked up, where can I find it?

Call the San Luis Police Department, Animal Control Division at (928) 341-2420. A microchipped or licensed animal may be kept temporarily at the San Luis Police Department while an attempt is made to contact the owner.   If Animal Control does not hold the Animal temporarily, it may be at the Humane Society of Yuma. The Humane Society of Yuma will not give out information about animals in their possession over the phone.
